(MADISON, Wisc.) —Living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia no longer looks drab or institutional for seniors in the Madison area as Renaissance Senior Living of Hilldale has developed a state-of-the-art, research-driven refuge for those with memory care diseases.
The Harbor, which is located inside of Renaissance Senior Living of Hilldale, is memory care like Madisonians have never seen before. Developed after years of research and planning alongside notable experts in the field of dementia, The Harbor includes an overall theme, design, and even furniture which all reflect the 1950’s era that is reminiscent of resident’s younger days. Staff at The Harbor also utilize SimpleC™ and Purposeful DaySM research-based programming for those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
“The Harbor is truly unlike anything we’ve seen in Dane County before,” said Kim Kay, Executive Director of Renaissance Senior Living of Hilldale. “So much research and planning went into the design to provide the best possible environment for our residents.”
The Harbor also includes circadian rhythm lighting, and common area signage and themes for rooms like Town Clinic, Town Diner, and Town Theater. Nothing was forgotten in creating space for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
“We know that living with Alzheimer’s or dementia brings many ups and downs for both the person living with the disease as well as the caregiver,” said Kay. “The Harbor was created to be a refuge from those storms and provide peace of mind.”
Renaissance Senior Living of Hilldale will host an open house on Sunday, June 12th from 1 to 4pm to provide caregivers and family members the opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art facility and to discuss how The Harbor team and assisted living may be helpful for those with memory care diseases. Door prizes of up to $500 will also be available. A second open house will be held on Sunday, June 26th from Noon to 4pm, with a door prize of Brewer’s tickets and other items.
