Renaissance Senior Living of Hilldale Offers Refreshing Approach to Alzheimer’s, Memory and Dementia Care
With innovative therapies such as Purposeful Day℠ and SimpleC™ at The Harbor, the remodeled senior living community will provide residents with specialized care for coping with memory loss, allowing seniors to live life with honor, respect, faith and integrity.
MADISON, Wis. (December 2, 2021) – Renaissance Senior Living of Hilldale, the newest member of the Cleveland, Tenn.-based Legacy Senior Living family of assisted living and memory care facilities, will take a refreshing approach to Alzheimer’s and dementia care through its unique programs at The Harbor, its innovative memory care wing, opening early 2022.
Located at 602 Segoe Road and currently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation and remodel, The Harbor will feature 28 memory care suites where seniors from Dane County and the surrounding areas will receive specialized care from licensed and certified caregivers who are trained to help seniors who are battling memory loss and other aspects of dementia.
The Harbor concept was developed after years of research and planning with notable experts in the field of dementia. The overall theme, design, colors, furniture, and common areas all reflect a 1950’s era that is reminiscent of younger days.
“The Harbor is designed to provide a refuge from the storms associated with memory-related conditions. Every aspect of our Harbor community has been researched and intentionally designed to provide residents and families with peace of mind. We want our residents to feel at home, and we’ve discovered that these amenities alongside our programs and technology have aided our residents greatly in their day to day lives,” said Barry Ray, founder and CEO of Legacy Senior Living.
Residents will have the opportunity to participate in The Harbor’s Purposeful Day™program, which is designed to help seniors cope with the challenges associated with memory-related disorders. The program allows them to engage in tasks and hobbies tailored to their interests and needs by incorporating a variety of non-medication therapies including reminiscence therapy, music, and exercise.
Purposeful Day™ examples include the homemaker, who helps set the table at mealtimes and folds the linen when it comes out of the dryer; the gardener, who helps plant flowers in the courtyard; and the accountant, who works with a calculator, paper and pen.
“Our approach to Memory Care will be like none other. The focus on creating a ‘Purposeful Day’ for our residents is to meet the needs of every resident individually. We all have different hobbies, occupations, faiths or favorite past times, so we approach the day to help residents succeed in their purpose," said Kim Kay, executive director.
The Harbor at Renaissance Senior Living of Hilldale will also feature the non-drug therapy program called SimpleC™, a leader in memory stimulation technology that utilizes a touch screen tablet to deliver a variety of treatments created to soothe those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related disorders. SimpleC is the result of years of study and development with top-tiered research institutions including the Copper Ridge Institute, Emory University, Georgia Tech and Georgia State.
Ahead of its opening early next year, the community is already taking deposits for its Founders Club, which provides a variety of perks for its members.
